My name is Rui Ding. I am a third-year doctoral student in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at the University of Iowa and a Temporary Licensed Marital and Family Therapist at Iowa State. I am focused on exploring practical issues such as language barriers, burnout, and counselor self-efficacy for international counselors-in-training. These efforts will prepare me for future roles and enable me to serve the counseling community more effectively. Before I moved to Iowa, I spent 4 years in Alabama, where I got my second master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Auburn University. Before that, I was in China and got my first master's degree in applied psychology.
In the Relational Resilience (R²) Lab, Rui coordinates the Trauma-Informed Peer Advocate (TIPA) project.
