Hayoung Jung is a doctoral student in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at the University of Iowa. She has been working with adolescents and young adults, specializing in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and interpersonal relationships.
Her research interests investigate the mechanisms of resilience, specifically focusing on how individuals transition from survival to regaining agency. While her work spans trauma, youth crisis, self-harm behaviors, and mental health, she unifies these domains to identify the psychological and environmental conditions that enable individuals to reclaim their lives.
In the Relational Resilience (R²) Lab, Hayoung leads coordination of the NAVO project and collaborates with the Trauma and Psychological Health Institute at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea on research examining Korean adolescents’ trauma exposure, non-suicidal self-injury, and suicidality
